Events similar to these witchcraft trials are happening today. For example, the various genocides that are going on, like the Rwanda Genocide are very similar to the witchcraft trials. Also, the events after the 9/11 attacks can be considered similar to the witchcraft trials too. This is because in all these cases, people were persecuted and condemned without substantial evidence against them, or even despite the fact that they've never done anything to harm anyone.
