Why do QB's get so much more time now?

Watching Super Bowl III (Colts lost, as expected) last night it was obvious that qb's were running for their life from the snap and had barely 2 seconds before someone was on them. Nowadays, even the worst QB seems to have several seconds before getting pressured, unless it's an all out blitz. Are bigger, slower linemen to blame?
