Should I Pick The Viola or Cello?

I've been wanting to take up a bowed stringed instrument for a long time now. and earlier i asked flute or viola. i tried the flute and... no more. so now i wanted to take up either viola or cello. i went to my city's best fine strings place today and tried out both the viola and cello. and i love both equally. but i have to choose one. I'll have to learn a new clef either way, so their equal. so i ask how can i choose between them? and what's your preference? and for viola and cello players, what's the good and not so good things about your instrument?
